For grooving a V tool or ball nose would normally be used and this would be in conjunction with the Axyz floating head system.

This is essential to ensure a constant depth of cut into the material and compensates for any minor variations in the machine bed.

If the cut is too deep there is a risk of the material splitting when it is folded. If the cut is not deep enough it will be difficult to fold accurately.
